October (Page 1) 2010

The weather has been rather horrid around here, and apart from constantly feeding, little has happened with the local birds. Until now, things are starting to happen all over

This dunnock, perhaps the one that unsuccessfully nested in a miniature conifer earlier this year, has started to bring leaves into the replacement robin box

This is the picture just a few hours later

Another shot of the bird with a new leaf

The Robin on the other hand, has taken to the honeysuckle box, not much work going on, but it seems keen to keep it clean from the dropping's left by a great tit that roosted here a few nights ago

Over in Bird box 1, we have a roosting great tit most nights. This bird seems to be a male, but also seems keen to keep the box clean, a trait normally associated with females

This Great tit male, may be trying to entice a female to use the box

This bird on the outside of box 1 does appear to be female

In bird box 2 however, we have a different situation. The box was used by a bird we named broken feather, because of a feather that always stuck out of its left wing. Well as you can see, this bird looks exactly the same, despite having  moulted since then

This Blue tit also brings in bits of material, not to make a nest but to stake a claim we think

We are pretty sure its Broken feather, and it would be great if she manages to raise another brood in the same box

Broken feather also roosts in this box at night. Don't forget you can watch this and all the other animals and birds live on our website by following this link http://webcams.myforesthome.co.uk/index.htm

Most cameras are on 24 hours a day, seven days a week
