There has been some interest in the Bird
Box 2 from used earlier this year by a pair of blue tits
I believe this is a male
Most of the visits are carried out during the
morning

This bird carries on popping in during October
Suddenly there is an increase in the
number and quantity of the visits
The bird spends much longer inspecting
every corner, is it about to use this box as a winter roost
We did not have to wait long as the very
next night it uses the box as a roost
Now i believe the roosting bird is a
male but although they are quite hard to tell apart at this time of
year, I think a female is also visiting
This Male tends to leave a mess in the
mornings
This bird with a slightly different set of
head feathers comes in and cleans up
This hopefully female bird has done the odd
nesting wiggle and spends hours jumping in and out of the box.

As some of you will know we normally have two boxes
up, but as we had problems with the electronics in the main box last
year (bird box 1) this year we thought we would modify this to make it
easier to fix problems without disturbing any residents. So we have
installed a 14 feet high 2 inch thick alloy pole and the box will be
winched up and down quietly on rollers, but as yet its not quite
finished.
