This update is very late due to ill health

The great tits are mostly fully grown now and demand food almost constantly. Of the ten eggs laid two did not hatch and one chick died very early in its life

Mum or dad has shouted an alarm call and they have all gone very quite

As I have mentioned before the overhead camera is playing up, so these photos are the best we can do for now

Proper little great tits now, except for the gape which has not fully receded

Getting ready for their first flights lots of stretching, preening and beating of wings

The first chick to have a look

Five minutes later and off it goes

The chicks always seem to go up at first then just a few seconds later head for a perch

Number two plucks up courage

Again it goes up and over to the other side of our garden

Just one minute later and the third chick has a look

Straight away it launches itself out in to the scary world

Just like before the forth chick follows just a minute later

This one was to quick for the camera, as sensibly it headed for the large tree

That leaves three, who do not look keen to go today

The following morning at 06-35am the first of the final three emerges

You can see how dark it is, and off it goes

Again one minute later 06-36 the penultimate chick takes flight

This is therefore the sixth chick to fledge, and again it flies' towards the other side of the garden, this must be because its siblings are calling from there

The last of the magnificent seven sits and contemplates what it should do

It feels vey lonely and takes several minutes to pluck up the courage to even have a look at the outside world

It finally musters the courage, almost ten minutes after number six left

Struggling out of the entrance just  as the dawn fully breaks

However its flight is somewhat erratic and it almost does a back flip, but it makes it in the end.

Meanwhile in nest box 2 the first of the ten blue tit eggs is hatching

Mum is very carefully helping it out of the shell, and consumes the entire shell. This is to replace the calcium that she has lost in the egg laying process

The chick struggles to lift its tiny head

Mum shoots off to find food for her first little chick
