5.45 am and the chicks have survived
through the night.
A close up reveals that three more chick have
been born during the night
You can see in this picture that there are
six eggs remaining and clearly there are five hungry chicks
6.25 am the sixth chick breaks through the
shell
Mum visits the mealworm feeder
Unfortunately for her, this little devil from
the forest across the road, has taken all of the worms, for its brood.
7.24 am and the seventh chick starts to
break through the shell
two minuets later and almost free
8.24 am number eight is born and Mum again
consumes the egg shell
So many hungry mouths to feed and no sign
of Dad
Mum goes out for a well deserved bath
Who is going to have this nice fat bug
then?
2 .41pm and dad turns up and gets the
hissing fit of his life and well deserved it seems.
If he is not going to support her she is not going to have anything
to do with him, despite he's best efforts
She can feed them without support, but can
she? time will tell I guess
