May (Page 13) 2006 (28th May) Chicks Hand
Reared |
First the bad news, I am very sad to say that four
of the chicks have passed away during the night, and one of the remaining
three still looks a bit off colour. This leaves me with one which is very
close to fledging, one who is at about the same age, but not well and one
which looks a bit scruffy, but full of life. I have gone back to feeding
the previous diet and so far today they seem to have lifted a bit.
The good news and I don’t know if I can stand it, a pair of blue tits is
constantly checking out bird box 2, I have seen the female in the tree in
the garden nearest the house and it could be whitetail. I have not turned
the lights on in box 2 for fear of scaring them off at this early stage,
running only on infrared |

I would like to thank all the people that have sent
in good will messages, and those that sent their own experiences, with
this sort of trial of life.
Some of this has been helpful, but I have had such contradicting
information, that one can only do it one way.
I have also had some hate mail, saying all manner of things including, I
may be propagating bird flue.
