May (Page 12) 2006 (27th May) Chicks Hand
Reared |
Up until now I have fed the chicks with what I have
observed the chicks being fed by the parents in previous years, and as
they mostly feed from the mealworm feeder, this, with a few other things,
forms the basis of their diet, with the addition of a vitamin supplement
mornings and evenings.
I have been advised that using a Hand rearing food in addition to the
normal food we have been giving will help with the chick’s condition, and
I have been feeding this today. However some of the chicks look a little
bit off colour this evening, releasing very wet looking stools and it may
be down to the change in the diet, so I will see what they are like in the
morning and may revert to the normal diet. |
