Aella has settled on ten eggs, and
incubation has started, I believe from the 2nd May
Omega is still the dad to beat, but I
would not put it past him starting another brood elsewhere, as I
have seen him cavorting with another
This video clip shows Aella calling to Omega,
who she can hear not far away, and he comes in with a rather tasty
fresh mealworm for her
This is a better view of the ten eggs,
lets hope they all hatch
Omega keeps the supplies flowing
This sparrow was proving to be rather
annoying to Aella, and kept popping up to the entrance
This is her reaction to its approach, coupled
with some noisy hissing and snapping of her beak
This is another shot, showing how she
hankers down in the nest, and tries to look as big as she can
Omega brings in a tasty spider, just the
job for a girlfriend, don't you think?
Diving deep down in to the nest cup, insuring
the eggs are kept evenly warm
The weather has been quite warm here, and
at times, the temperature in the box reaches 24 degrees C, even in
the shade of the tree, just shows that correct sighting of a nest
box, is essential
Aella when entering with food in her beak,
now calls to the eggs to see if they want feeding, perhaps she can
hear sounds coming from them already, or is it just instinct?
I reared this boy well, as you can see, he
is doing he's bit
what a clever chap, keep up the good work,
as the chicks will be here soon enough. I estimate the 12 may for
the first.
