Spring seems to have finally sprung for
the Blue Tits.
At last some nesting material has appeared
Watch a video of it
A lovely nest wiggle from the female
This female can be identified by a white
feather in its tail, not always visible though
This picture got me going, I thought there
must be a wire hanging down in the nest, as I am disabled I had to
get someone to lower the box and check. It turns out it is a
distortion of the picture due to the lens, what I thought was a wire
is in fact the birds toe.
Things are still slow in box 2 and I am afraid
there are still some fights going on between the two females. you
would have thought, it would be the males that fight, but as I can now
identify at least one female ( whitetail) I can assure you it is the
females.
You can see the damage to the face feathers again on this bird
Here she is again having a clean up of the
nest
Again in this picture two females are in
dispute I am not going to show any more video of the fighting, as it
is quite distressing to watch
The first coupling between the male and
the female was captured on video today.
The male was in the box already when the female we call white tale
entered and flapped her wings at him, he was a little surprised I
think.
You can make up you're own mind by
watching the video clip.
