Aella has started again bringing nesting
material into the nest box
But as is usual at this time of year its
just another practice run and out it goes again
A few seconds later and another load comes in
Just a short while later out it goes again
We have had the odd visit from great tits
And if you watch the reaction of Aella to an
intruder trying to get into the box in this video
You can perhaps understand why she feels the
need to go in and clean up the mess left in box 2 after Omega has
spent the night
The video shows the lengths she is willing
to go to, so as to keep this as a second possible nest site
This is Omega fast asleep
Box 2 gets its fair share of perhaps
unwelcome visitors, in this case its a starling who has caught onto
the fact that some boxes have mealworms in
Another visitor, this time a welcome one,
in the form of a great tit, I would like them to use this box this
year, fingers crossed anyway
On the left is the mealworm feeder we have
tried various designs over the years but this has proved to be the
most successful. Top right is box 1 this can be raised and lowered
by winch, for servicing
We had a strange little visitor the other
day, I believe, but am by no means sure, that this is a young
collared dove. If you know different please let me know
Watch this short video for a better look
Another angle, seems very early in the
year for this chick, global warming?
A female blackbird chasing off the bugs
from sitting on an early nest as well
