June (Page 3) 2010

The 7 chicks' as at the 14th June

Lots of stretching, flapping and preening

We thought they would start to leave by Friday the 19th June, but the weather for that two day's was very wet and windy

Sunday the 20th June at 12.04 and the first chick takes flight, we did not catch the preamble to this unfortunately

The 2nd chick to think about leaving, was just after 12.30

It didn't take long, and out it popped, into a lovely sunny day

Just under 14 minutes later and number 3 showed some interest

It did not linger long and shot out like it had done this sort of thing all before. However there does seem to be something amiss with one of its feet, a sort of club foot

6 minutes later and number four shows an interest

The first four have not hung about long, up to the entrance and off they go, this one at 12.51

The final three are a bit different, over an hour and a half passes before this one plucks up the courage

And without any hesitation of it goes

The weather changed, later that day, with the wind and rain picking up again. The final two stayed until the next day a very wise decision

This the six and penultimate chick, this little bird left at 7.35 the following morning

This leaves one chick, much underdeveloped, compared to its siblings, and not really ready to take to the wing

Both parent birds continued to feed the chick, and kept the nest clean for it

Almost an hour and a half passes before it to plucks up the courage to have a go

At 8.27 off it went and flew rather well considering.
