| The night before last the Blackbird, who
it has to be said, has been sitting on these three remaining eggs an
abnormally long time was disturbed |
| The disturbance came from this cat, who
decided to partake of a late night snack |
On leaving the garden via a fence panel close to
the nest, it gave the Blackbird quite a shock, and she jumped off
the nest, and in the dark could not find her way back |
| The eggs were left uncovered for over four
hours, now it was a very warm night over 20 degrees in fact |
| At 4.18 the female found her way back and
resumed incubation. The longest the eggs should take to hatch is 19
days and supposing that the broken egg removed the other day is the
oldest, an egg should hatch tomorrow, but we feel this may all be
over for this clutch, we would however love to eat those words |
| When mum is away dad often stands guard over
the eggs, gazing and listening for some sign of life |
| A female blue tit came into the old nest, in
bird box 2, and sat starring at the nest cup, or what remains of it,
we wonder what she is thinking, another clutch perhaps, you never
know |
