Its very sad but I have to report that the chick we
named Barney died today, he had some obvious problems and would not have
survived in the wild.
The other two chicks are doing fabulously, flying around the intermediate
cage we have made for them, so we can continue to feed them, up to the
point were they can feed themselves.I don't normally do this but I have
decided to name the two chicks Alpha and Omega, Alpha is the older and
therefore neater chick, they are as different as chalk and cheese. Alpha
loves to have a bath and drink the water but wont as yet feed itself and
it still likes the odd mealworm in its diet. Omega doesn't bath and
doesn't drink but will feed itself but no longer like's mealworms.
The Chicks love their new home, and fly
around like professionals', not that I am any judge. I have to feed
them with bamboo barbecue skewers now to be able to reach their
little begging beaks, I hope they learn to come forward to be fed as
this could get tricky.
The one leg headless bird
The pair relaxing after a good feed
The love looking at the other birds in the
sky now
Lovely bright blue metallic looking legs
Alpha studding me, with an inquisitive look
A close up view
Alpha is the the easiest to take pictures
of as omega just wont stay still long enough
They love picking of the bark from the
branch they are on
