| Many of you who have followed the diary in
previous years will know we hand reared a couple of tits in 2006,
after a very wet and windy season. One of those young birds we
called Omega, as they had such a bad start to their little lives,
they tended to be smaller than normal and also less colourful, as
their diet consisted of mealworms, and a few supplements, hence the
lack of yellow in the young Omega, as seen in the picture below
right, they it would seem, get some of this colour from their food,

I feel very strongly that this male who is
very much smaller than the female, is Omega, he bears a striking
similarity to him, and loves mealworms, eating many more of them,
than other tits, that visit the mealworm feeder. From this point on
he will be named Omega, therefore we propose to call the female
