The Pair are back, but spending time together in
another location |
| They still pop back most nights for a feed
though |
Imagine my surprise when I saw this image, at
first I thought a cat had got back in the box again |
| Then I saw this, a ferret, local people
use these for keeping the rabbits down |
This ball of fluff has obviously escaped from
somewhere |
| It spends a couple of nights in the hoggie
box and then leaves |
We were just about to clean out the box and put
in new bedding when, it or a friend returns |
| That night our hedgehog returns to use the
box has a sniff and doesn't like the smell, so decides to leave |
Back again the next day, we find out who the
owner is and put in a call |
| This is the last picture taken of it as
the owner removes it from the hog box |

Now for the bad news, I
think its been mentioned before that a favourite haunt of the Hedgehogs
has been a very thick Hawthorne bush that's been just around the corner
from our garden to my memory for at least 20 years. This is almost
certainly where the hedgehogs have lived in the main for many years.
Five days ago the New Forest Council, or maybe Hampshire County Council,
have cut the hedge right back to stumps. The resulting pile must have
filled a lorry, and I have a very bad feeling that our Hedgehogs have
been swept up in the pile, as they have not been seen since, I hope they
have escaped to a new home, and not ended up in a chipper somewhere. You
would think with declining numbers of these animals that these workmen
would keep an eye out for the very many they must disturb during their
work. We are very upset and although we shall continue to put out food
for them, doubt we shall see any for some time. |
