Hedgehog Page 44 February 2009 |
| We weren't sure if our Hedgehog was waking
up, it sounded like it, as we could hear it more, and more, the
coughing and spluttering of it's lungs, getting them back to full
flow |

This is the first time we actually got a picture
of it, due to the power cuts we have been having since all the snow
fell, the 1st of March |
This is it trying to get back in the box still
half asleep but because earlier that day a pigeon knocked over that
awkward shaped log the hedgehog could not get in, got a little
confused tried to walk up the logs then got stuck and walked off |

This is what the inside looks like now, the nest
seems to be a very tight bundle of leaves inside a covering of straw
or grasses |
The following night it was back for food as
usual, but didn't even go inside the box |
On the 3 March it was back, having a drink, they
must get so dehydrated after Hibernation. Then we did not see it for
several nights, I think because the weather was really bad, and due
to that, it could get a drink just about anywhere |
On the 7th March it was back and this time it
had a good look around the old nest, i wonder now, if we should give
it a good clean out, we have done that in past years, as its
probably soiled |
It was obviously at home in there, i thought for
a while that it might stay |
It was quite late in the morning and dawn was
about to rise, the local Hogs have a communal hedge just around the
corner where they seem to spend a lot of time and I guess that's
were it was off too, come back soon little Hoggie |
