Hedgehog Page 37 June 2008
Up until just a few days ago the Twins as we called them, continued to share the box

Regularly coming out to feed together

This photo shows that they have not grown that much as they still fit inside this 10 cm dish

This is the darker one of the two more distinguishable in infrared

Another shot of the darker one at night

And again in the daylight. This time the birds have not left any food for them don't worry though as we soon refill the dish
This I believe is the twins Mum, who looks like she has been servicing a car or tractor looking at what looks like splodges of dirty oil on her back

Mum and one of the twins again

The twins are it seems reaching puberty and I believe we have one of each sex

After weeks of fairly harmonious cohabitation a rift seems to be forming between them
Quite often during the day the lighter Hoggie who I think is a male starts bashing the other Hog, also it seems more infected with fleas, always scratching

The 8th of June and finally the darker probably female Hoggie has had enough and decides to leave

This is her heading for the hills so to speak, I cant say I blame her

Mum again the following night with the remaining baby

Mum seems to have even more oil on her this time

Our lighter coloured hog has a clear out which is quite a good idea now its on its own
Doesn't seem to have made much difference to the other inhabitants of the box though, still scratching

The twins are united over a bowl of food, but the estranged hog does not stay

Mum comes back for a top up

The remaining hoggie starts bringing in fresh bedding

That's the story so far, this our little fellow just nipping out for a constitutional, and as usual I have been left with a boy.

The only hope is that Mum will bring some more babies here later in the year
