February (Page 2) 2008 |
| Omega as I mentioned before is a very
messy boy. This was the state of bird box 2 on the 17 Feb. |
| So the following day, time for a good
clean out, scrubbed washed and filled with wood shavings. |
That night on Omega's return, he jumps in not
having seen that things have changed |
| Startled he jumps back out, he then spends
the next half hour going in and out |
| Watch the video of Omega realising what has
happened |
| The morning of the 19 Feb. started as
usual with Aella banging away at her favourite corner of bird box 1 |
Something very strange then happens, she turns
up at box 2 and with Omega trying to get her to enter |
| Aella eventually enters box 2 and does not
like what she finds. |
| She then spends the next two hours taking
the majority of the wood shavings out |
| Even Omega is encouraged into helping,
very strange |
| This is the box by 10 am. that morning,
shavings gone |
| The two of them are seemingly closer than
before |
| Now the next strange thing is Aella
behaviour, she starts doing nest wiggles |
| Watch this clip and you will see Aella
doing nest wiggles and later clearing out the box of Omegas poops |
| Then just a few hours later she does the
same wiggles back in box 1, is she planning to have two nests this
season |
| This behaviour could be that she thinks
another bird has created that mess in box 2 and she is not for
sharing. The really startling thing
is that since this has happened every morning she enters box 2 and
clears out Omegas mess |
| Hear you can clearly see her with one of
his poops in her beak, dedication or what. |
| Just to prove the point here she is back
in box 1 doing the same thing. |
| Back at box 1 and more pre nesting
behaviour, apart from clearing box 2 out each morning she is now
spending most of her time back in box 1 |
