Its been a good start to the
new year with a blue tit roosting in each box at night. Many species
of birds using the feeders, bird bath and mealworm feeder.
We have a hedgehog hibernating in
the hedgehog box, sharing with field mice.
February has started
well with some reasonable weather although a bit windy, A Great tit
has been in box 1, Omega is still roosting in box 2. A
Starling has been attacking box 1, and strange things have happened
with mealworms.
Aella has started pre nesting
practice runs, but is still keeping her options open for box 2.
Several Blackbirds must have chicks as they are making good use of
the Hedgehogs food. The Hoggie is awake most of the time, and we had
our first visit from another hog
Spring is here and of
course its snowing. Both blue tits are roosting at night, but as yet
not much nest building has taken place. We are not holding out much
hope for box 2 at this point but you never know
Aella and Omega have
settled on 10 eggs and incubation has started.
We are getting quite a
bit of rain so lets hope things improve for later
Aella and Omega's
chicks have hatched. The weather is better this year and all the
chicks are doing well, although 1 egg has not hatched
Aella and Omega 9
chicks all seem to be doing well all 9 have been seen at the feeder.
Both bird boxes have
been cleaned out ready for rooster later in the year.
