New bird box for
2004 a lot more waterproof and warmer. The box houses a BW infrared
camera wired up to our Computer, so we can capture pictures for
on-line use
The first roosting blue tit, it's such a
pleasure to be able to see what is going
on inside, the interactions between the sexes, the nest
building and the growth and hopefully fledging of the chicks
March has seen a
steady flow of nesting material. The male has done some work by
feeding the female now and again
21st April She might
well have been egg laden, after spending most of the day out she
laid her first egg clearly to be seen in this picture.
The male has not
been seen for four days, I believe the mealworm feeder is saving the
day; an egg can clearly be seen that did not hatch. One chick died
this morning. So there are now only eight left
1st June all the
chicks have fledged this morning. The first chick left the nest at
7.21am. The eight and last chick took the plunge at 9.03am. Mum
returned and seemed shocked at the empty nest
